Perform Search
- Define and test a search query (structure, substructure, reaction, fact, or combination) that you want as an alert. For detailed searching instructions see Beilstein and Gmelin Databases Search Help.

Saved Searches
Save Search History (to rerun later)
- Display your search query in the Query Builder window.
- Click Save Query.
- Type file name.
- Click Save.
Use Saved Search History
- Click Open Query in the Query Builder window.
- Click the saved query name.
- Clickn Open.
- Clickn Start Search.
Modify Saved Search History
- Click Open Query in the Query Builder window.
- Click the saved query name.
- Click Open.
- Edit query.
- Click Save Query.
- Click query name to overwrite the current query or type a new file name.
- Click Save.
Email Alerts
- Display your search query in the Query Builder window.
- Click Create Alert.
- Enter Alert Profile name.
- Select database name from the Database drop-down menu.
- Select frequency from the Frequency drop-down menu.
- Type email address in Send Results To: box.
- (Optional) Add additional email addresses and comments.
- Click Save Profile.
Modify Email Alerts
- Click Alerts tab.
- Select the alert you wish to edit from the Alert Profiles listing on the left side of the CrossFire window. The alert will appear on the right side of the CrossFire window.
- Modify alert settings.
- Click Save Profile.
RefWorks and EndNote
CrossFire email alerts are not specifically formatted to import into RefWorks or EndNote. For more information about how to import citations from Beilstein or Gmelin into citation managers, see RefWorks or EndNote import instructions.
