An Introduction to LaTeX and BibTeX | ||

LaTeX is a way to create professional looking documents using a typesetting markup language. Many journals and publishing companies use LaTeX templates for submissions. There are even a few templates circulating for UW-Madison dissertations. Get a basic introduction to the differences between LaTeX and other word processors. Learn the basic structure of documents, formatting, and how to incorporate LaTeX into your workflow. Also, learn how to integrate citations into your documents easily using the BibTeX format. Data Management is Good for You | ||

Geographic Information Systems
Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) | ||

This workshop provides hands-on experience with ArcGIS 10 Software and different types of geospatial data. Using U.S. Census population and other data, workshop attendees will use ArcGIS 10 software to view spatial and tabular data files, create thematic maps, and perform different types of spatial analysis. The workshop includes a general introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), an overview of geospatial data types and formats, and an introduction to analysis methods, working with tables, querying data based on certain criteria, and displaying/mapping data in ArcGIS software.
