Supported by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to the Chazen Museum and the UW-Madison Libraries, this project will extend the application of our discovery platform and digital collections infrastructure to provide discovery of resources held by other cultural heritage organizations on campus.
The UW-Madison Libraries has made a significant investment over time to create a technology environment that provides a robust digital repository for digital and digitized objects and their discovery alongside other library resources. This technology environment has been created to be as open and extensible as possible to ensure sustainability and interoperability. This project will enhance the existing technology platform to serve the Libraries’ expanding needs in digital collection management, discovery, and preservation, as well as similar needs across campus in other cultural heritage organizations.
By bringing together and providing a rich experience of collections of interest to researchers and the public, the project broadens and deepens access to research resources.
The grant was awarded in 2020. Initial work on the grant was put on hold during the pandemic, but has since resumed and will continue through 2023.
