Archives Student Historian and Undergraduate Research Award joint reception
We are excited to announce the first-ever Archives Student Historian and Libraries Undergraduate Research Award joint reception! The reception will be held on Friday, May 5th from 12:30 to 2:00 pm in the Memorial Library, 728 State St, in the 4th floor Commons. For those unable to attend in person, join us via Zoom at 12:30 p.m. We highly encourage in-person attendance for refreshments, time to mingle with colleagues and students, and as a show of support to our excellent undergraduate scholars.
The reception will include introductions and an overview of the Undergraduate Research Award and Student Historian Program, followed by presentations from this year’s Student Historians and Undergraduate Research Award winner.
The Undergraduate Research Award Winner, Shelby Len, will present on her project Precious Moments: A Study of Commercialism in American Devotional Images.
The Student Historians will talk about their experience in the program and designing their own research project. Student HIstorian Chloe Foor will present on her oral history project learning about the experiences of current and past students who have had to reconcile a religious identity with their own LGBTQ+ identity. Student Historian Elisa Miller will share her research into the Asian Theater Program at UW-Madison and Professor David Furumoto’s impact on the theater community.
There will be time for questions after the presentation. Light refreshments will be served.
We hope that many of you will join us as we celebrate these students’ accomplishments!
