Jim Lee: Printmaker and Occasional Book Artist
Jim Lee produces masterful prints and letterpress books under his imprint Blue Moon Press. He will discuss his print work over the past thirty years and describe how books have fit into his studio practice. Focusing on nature, especially the depiction of landscape as seen in his print series New England Orchard, Connecticut River, and Nova Scotia, his work also explores humor, satire, folklore, nursery rhymes, and mythology. Often created after finishing a print series, his supremely crafted books are time-intensive and produced once in a blue moon.
An exhibition, Narrative Images: Jim Lee & Blue Moon Press, will be on view at the Kohler Art Library from February 1-April 30, 2019.
Funded by the Leonora G. Bernstein Artists’ Book Endowment and sponsored by Kohler Art Library, UW-Madison Libraries.
Lecture is free and open to the public.
