Keep Calm for Finals
We offer a variety of activities and give-aways for students in the library to help you “Keep Calm and Study Strong” and reduce the end-of-semester stress. Together with campus partners, we try to bring a little fun into an otherwise anxiety-ridden week of exams and final projects with the following schedule of events:
Wednesday, Dec. 14th: “Keep Calm and Muffle Sound” with an ear-plug give-away. We know that too much construction has disrupted College Library this semester and some projects continue through finals. Help yourself to a little noise-reducing aid. While supplies last. 1st Floor Center.
Also, the Wisconsin Alumni Association is providing Rockstar energy drinks starting at 7pm, while supplies last. 2nd Floor Center.
Thursday, Dec. 15th: Open Book Cafe coffee give-away! From 7pm-2am, get free regular coffee, tea or hot chocolate, courtesy of the Wisconsin Union. Room 1250.
Friday, Dec. 16th: GUTS Study Day! From noon until midnight, GUTS tutors are available on study day to help with all your last-minute tutoring needs. They’ll have free coffee and treats for those receiving assistance. Sponsored by ASM and the Division of Student Life. “Keep Calm and Tutor Strong” 1st Floor Student Services Area.
Saturday, Dec. 17th: “Be Kneaded” – 5 minute chair massages provided by TIBIA massage-therapy students. 3-5pm, 1st Floor Student Services Area.
Coloring pages sponsored by NAMI-UW (National Alliance on Mental Illness) with wellness tips. 1st Floor Center.
Sunday, Dec. 18th: “Keep Calm and Snip Strong” – make a snowflake, add a message of support, and help decorate the library for the season. Coloring pages continue. 1st Floor Center.
Monday, Dec. 19th: Reduce stress and study strong with koosh balls and other stress-relieving toys, available while you study. Return when calm. 🙂 1st Floor Center.
Tuesday, Dec. 20th: Study Strong with Puppy Power! Therapy dogs from Dogs on Call will visit the library from 4-5:30pm. Hug a puppy for good luck! 1st Floor Center and throughout the library.
Wednesday, Dec. 21st: “Keep Calm and Sugar Strong” – free candy at the library’s service desks. Get a little boost to help you “study strong.”
All week long there will be hand-outs with tips for reducing stress, exercises designed for sitting at tables for lengthy periods of time, and puzzles will be out in 1st Floor Center for a little brain break. Everyone’s favorite morale booster, Bucky Badger, is likely to stop by as well!
