College Staff Mourn Passing of Colleague

The staff of College Library are saddened at the loss of Sharon Drugan, a Library Services Assistant who supported the library’s instruction program and helped manage the Open Book Collection. Sharon, who had been battling cancer for over three years, passed away on January 8, 2012.

Sharon began working at College Library in February 1999 and worked at the Math Library in several capacities before that. Prior to moving to Madison, Sharon was a journalist in New Jersey, her home state. In addition to her exceptional attention to detail, Sharon loved opportunities to be creative and was instrumental in showcasing the recreational materials of the Open Book Collection through thematic displays. Sharon was always fully engaged both with her specific work within College Library and with the UW-Madison Libraries as a whole, regularly offering suggestions and ideas for improvements both small and large.

College Library will miss her remarkable kindness, among the many wonderful things that made Sharon a truly special person.
