4th Annual Digital Salon
Now through Saturday, April 20, visitors to Open Book will see displayed student work submitted to the Digital Salon, an exhibition of new media sponsored by the UW-Madison Libraries and DesignLab. The 4th annual exhibition showcases artistic and research-based projects that take digital form or are produced using information technology.
Podcasts, experimental videos, animations, graphic novels or essays, websites, blogs, multimedia installations, posters and other new media work by UW graduate and undergraduate students are on exhibit in College Library’s Open Book (Room 1250), as well as in our online exhibit.
Three works were singled out for special merit, including: Best in Show: Tall Dark and Loathsome by Andrew Peck (Graduate student) – video essay. Andrew’s project was created for Comm-Arts 609; Instructor: Eric Hoyt. Honorable Mention: Bring Fractal to Figurative Art, Wanyi Chen (Graduate student)- illustration/digital image. Wanyi is a second year PhD student in economics and this is an independent project. Honorable Mention: Dyslexia, Maria Swanke (Undergraduate) – graphic essay.
