Reserve a Button Maker
After a pandemic hiatus, the 1″ and 2¼” button makers are once again available by reservation for UW-Madison students, staff, and faculty.
To reserve one of the button makers, check the calendar for availability, and submit the reservation form. If there are no conflicts with the date you want, then the item will be reserved for you and you will be notified via email. If there is some conflict, you also will be notified by email.
The standard maximum loan period is 3 days (minor extensions can sometimes be arranged). Consecutive reservations for the same item by the same person are not allowed.
It is important that you check the calendar before filling out the reservation form.
Also note that these reservation requests are monitored during regular business hours (8am-5pm Monday – Friday). You should typically expect a response within one business day.
You will need your Wiscard to check out the button maker at the library’s Info Desk on the first floor of College Library. Button supplies may be purchased from the vending machine located near the main entrance (diagonally across from the Info Desk):
- 1 inch – $1.00 for 25 buttons
- 2¼ inch – $1.50 for 25 buttons
If you plan to make more than 200 buttons, you will need to order supplies a week in advance directly from American Button Machines:
You may also find other useful information, including button making templates and instructional videos, on the American Button Machines site.
