Dogs on Call Return

With the end of the semester approaching, College Library is pleased to announce a slate of finals events that once again includes an appearance by the therapy canines of Dogs on Call. After a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the volunteers and their dogs are scheduled to return on Monday, May 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. Weather depending, the event will take place in the Helen C. White courtyard and the 1st Floor of the library.

Other planned events include:

  • Prepare for Finals with UHS Giveaways (hand sanitizer, tissues, and chapstick) · Friday, May 6, while supplies last
  • Free (Plain) Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate · Friday, May 6, from 7 to 11 p.m.
    Open Book Café and the Wisconsin Union once again provide free hot beverages for students getting a head-start on Study Day.
  • GUTS Study Day · Saturday, May 7 from 10 am to 5 pm
    Tutors from the Greater University Tutoring Service will be on hand (along with free coffee & food for those receiving help) in the 1st floor center of the library. Get some last minute study advice on before exams begin.
  • Button-Making at the Library · Sunday, May 8, while supplies last
    Visitors will be able to make a 1″ button with supplies provided by the library. Design your own or choose one of our preprinted options.
  • Dogs on Call · Monday, May 9, from 4 pm to 6 pm
    Stop by for a little canine therapy with Millie the Lab and her friends from Dogs on Call. Canines and their handlers will be stationed around the courtyard (weather permitting) and the first floor of the library for those in need of a puppy cuddle.
  • White Board “Words of Encouragement” · Tuesday, May 10, all day
    Add your inspiring thoughts to the large white board in the 1st floor of the library.

During finals week, College Library will also set out coloring pages and puzzles and, if you need a longer break, we encourage you to check out the Study Break Room in the vending area off of Open Book, Room 1250. We find the large monitor featuring an aquarium to be quite relaxing. College Library would like to thank its campus partners for supporting its student patrons during finals.

College Library opened at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 1, and will not close again until Friday, May 13, at 10 p.m. For more information about the library’s interim schedule, please see our Hours page.
