Organizations

• National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA) is the central GWS association in the United States. It has as one of its primary objectives promoting and supporting the production and dissemination of knowledge about women and gender through teaching, learning, research and service in academic and other settings.
• American Association of University Women (AAUW) – Advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.
• Asian Association of Women’s Studies
• Association for Middle East Women’s Studies
• Coordinating Council for Women in History
• Indian Association for Women’s Studies (IAWS)
• Organization for Research on Women and Communication (ORWAC)
• Pakistan Association for Women’s Studies
• Rural Women’s Studies Association (RWSA) was founded in 1998 and is an international association for the advancement and promotion of farm and rural women’s gender studies in historical perspective.
• Since its permanent establishment in 1989, the University of Wisconsin Women’s Studies Consortium as made significant progress in strengthening ongoing activities and developing new initiatives in Women’s Studies, while collaborating with other efforts to ensure excellence through diversity in the UW System.
• The Women and Gender Studies Section (WGSS) of the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) was formed to discuss, promote, and support women’s studies collections and services in academic and research libraries.
