UW Libraries Blood Drive on July 20
The annual UW Libraries Blood Drive will take place on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in 116 Memorial Library. The date is fast approaching, and it’s time to sign up to donate blood! Walk-ins are welcome, but signing up to donate at a particular time between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. makes the process go faster, and is highly recommended.
There are a couple ways to sign up:
- You can sign-up online HERE.
- You can also call the Red Cross to set up an appointment at 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767). Sponsor code: uw libraries
And don’t forget to encourage co-workers and student assistants to donate as well! Send an e-mail or tweet to get the word out. If you aren’t able to donate blood but still want to help, consider donating your time instead– click here sign up to work the blood drive. Descriptions of the volunteer positions are listed below.
Registrar: Check-in donors while seated at the registration table. Provide donors with a packet of donation rules and policies which they need to read prior to donating blood.
Room Aide: Be ready to assist the nurses as needed while standing near the donation beds – this typically includes getting some water for donors to drink if they are feeling faint. Escort each donor to the refreshment table while carrying the donor’s personal belongings.
Refreshment Aide: See that each donor is seated comfortably at the refreshment table. Keep the canteen area stocked and provide beverages. If a donor is feeling faint, please contact one of the donor room aides or nurses.
