FAQ
What is this for?
The UW-Madison Libraries are looking to improve their website’s usability. By getting the perspective of current students and seeing how they interact with the library website, library staff can make changes to improve the experience for future users.
Do I need to be a UW-Madison student?
Yes–the Libraries want to learn more about how students are using our services. Unfortunately, current staff and folks unaffiliated with UW-Madison are not eligible to participate or receive the $10 gift card.
What personal information do you collect? Will this be recorded?
We will need to collect your name and email address in order to send you the Amazon gift card. However, your name will not be associated with any information we record during the session. Also, we are evaluating the Libraries website, not you. While we will be recording the Zoom session so that we can review and compare how people use the Libraries website, these recordings will not be shared beyond the people administering the usability session. Additionally, any information (including notes) shared with staff in the libraries will be anonymized.
How long does the usability test take?
We anticipate that this will take 20 minutes or less to complete. The session will be conducted in half-hour appointments on Tuesday, December 1, and Wednesday, December 2. The sign-up survey allows you to indicate your availability for each half-hour slot.
What do I need in order to participate?
All you need is access to a computer and WiFi, as well as the ability to download and install Zoom. We will send instructions for installing Zoom prior to the usability session.
