New Faces at the Libraries: Mackenzie Ryan

October 13, 2021 By Jari Xiong, Communications

The Libraries welcomed Mackenzie Ryan as the Assistant University Records Officer at University Archives and Records Management in August!

Before joining UW-Madison, Mackenzie was a Reference Librarian at both the Minnesota Historical Society and the Texas State Library and Archives. In these positions, she was responsible for departmental records management and training. After gaining experience working in government libraries and archives, Mackenzie was interested in making the transition to an academic library and archives.

So far, she’s enjoyed learning about the UW and UW-Extension and being able to apply that knowledge to her work, whether that’s helping researchers at the reference desk or identifying possible locations where historical Extension records may exist. Another highlight for Mackenzie has been the opportunity to collaborate with others across campus.

Welcome, Mackenzie!

Four Fun Facts about Mackenzie:

1. Favorite color: Blue

2. Something interesting: I’m a huge Green Bay Packers fan and love talking about football. I also am into powerlifting

3. Volunteer organizations: I’ve previously volunteered for regional and state-level National History Day competitions in both Texas and Minnesota. I hope to continue my involvement here in Wisconsin

4. Most looking forward to experiencing in Madison: Attending a Badger football game!
