Undergraduate Research Award
Do you anticipate working intensively with library resources to complete a semester or year-long research project? If so, you may qualify for the Undergraduate Research Award offered by our UW-Madison Libraries. The intent of this award is to celebrate and to support excellence in undergraduate, library-based research. Students looking to engage with their project—be this a capstone, independent study, performance or other–during the 2019-2020 academic year are encouraged to apply.
Visit this link to complete an application form. Applications are due, Thursday, April 18, 2019.
The student selected to receive this $2000 award will be expected to complete the following requirements:
- An introductory meeting with the Undergraduate Research Awards team, where the student’s research interests and needs will be discussed and clarified.
- One or more meetings with a librarian with expertise in the student’s subject area who will assist the student as they pursue their research. The Undergraduate Research Awards team will schedule and facilitate this meeting.
- A minimum of three check-in meetings per semester with a member of the Undergraduate Research Awards team, to assure that progress is being made and the student is being appropriately supported by the Libraries’ staff, collections, technologies, equipment, and other resources.
- A presentation to library staff, to be determined by the nature of the student’s research. The Undergraduate Research Awards team will coordinate this presentation with the student.
