Transcendent Kingdom, Go Big READ, 2021-22
Chancellor Rebecca Blank and a review committee of campus faculty, staff and students have selected Yaa Gyasi’s novel Transcendent Kingdom as the 2021-2022 shared book selection for the UW-Madison campus.
The novel chronicles the protagonist’s quest, as a PhD candidate in neuroscience, to find hope and healing for her deeply grieving family through the practices of science and spirituality.
UW-Madison instructors interested in using the book in class can request review copies and copies for their students by contacting the Go Big Read office.
Go Big Read is UW-Madison’s common book program. Students, staff and community are invited to read the selected book then participate in a variety of related programs in-and-out of the classroom. Go Big Read will welcome your participation with this new selection during the forthcoming academic year.
